Things To Do

The Dalles

  • National Neon Sign Museum - A fun stop for learning the science and history of neon sign making.
  • Klindt's Books - The oldest bookstore in Oregon. Ashley's favorite place to shop or pick up stationary in The Dalles.
  • Sunshine Mill Artisan Plaza & Winery - A winery built inside the old Sunshine Flour Mill. Funky decor, lovely snacks and wine in a retro-inspired tasting room.
  • The Dalles Murals - Take a walk through downtown The Dalles, and check out over 20 murals commemorating the history of The Dalles.
  • Go Antiquing at Breezeway - A one stop shop for fabulous finds. The three women that own Breezeway are a hoot, and they will help you find that perfect souvenir.
  • Wine Tasting at Tierra De Lobos - The best winery in The Dalles for Malbec, Barbera, and Sauvignon Blanc. Sit at the bar and chat with Adolfo or Gabino.
  • The Workshop - Need a "The Dalles" tee shirt or mug? This is the place. They also create their own wood art.

Hood River

  • WAAAM - Chad's favorite museum.  Antique airplanes and a knowledgeable staff.
  • Hood River Lavender Farms - Get a beautiful "double mountain view" of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams at this great spot to sip on lavender lemonade on the porch.
  • The Gorge White House - A funky stop on the Fruit Loop for beer, wine, cider, and tasty lunch. Pick-your-own flowers may be available in April depending on the weather.
  • Draper Girls' Country Farm - Try some award winning hard cider, or pick up a bottle of delicious sweet cider made on site.

Take a hike

  • Rowena Crest & Tom McCall Nature Preserve - Drive old Rt. 35 to the Rowena Crest view point for a panoramic view of Columbia River Gorge. Take an easy walk through the Tom McCall Nature Preserve.
  • Multnomah Falls - Stop and visit one of Oregon's most well known outdoor destinations.
  • Pipeline Trail - Take an easy out-and-back hike on a catwalk built on top of a penstock pipeline. This is a fun trail with gorgeous view of the Hood River.
  • White River Falls -  Ashley's favorite hike. A moderate hike to beautiful falls and an old hydroelectric plant. This hike is best done in mild weather.

Portland

  • The International Rose Test Garden - Stop and smell the roses in this peaceful park with more than 600 varieties of roses. Most bloom from May to October, but it's worth a stop.
  • Portland Japanese Garden - A gorgeous Japanese style garden with beautiful views of Mt. Hood.
  • Powell's Books - A Portland staple bookstore with multiple floors.
  • Hollywood Theatre - An old school movie house showing first runs, indie films, and many more. Cheap beer and cheaper popcorn.
